Recovery week, Sunshine and Mystery

To avoid disasters fun runs as with the Brexit, I decided to rather not go run for a couple of days. It’s also recovery week, so in theory that would have been clever.

My first mistake was to switch on the telly on Wednesday morning, before heading out … at 4:30. I spent the rest of the day in a shocked state as the events unfolded.

While the graph below actually shows the decline of my fitness (pink line) since Wednesday, it also shows the decline of my mood and mental health.

This absolutely had to stop I decided today. I tried to find excuses, but even the tide was reasonably low and so I had to head out. I’m happy I did! My legs were not used to running anymore and felt very confused for the first couple of minutes. So I enjoyed the sunrise and played with my new camera! I only did 30 minutes, but am looking forward to next week and my more or less proper routine.

Which leads me to my next topic: Blog awards!

We all have seen them around. Blogger getting awards and answering questions. Linking back to the blog that has nominated them and nominating other blogger. Sounds fun right? I’m not so sure how I feel about it. First it reminds me of chain letters, then it creates a task and an obligation. On the other hand, I love reading those award posts and learning more about my blogging friends!

So there are pros and cons to it, but compared to the election I can at least choose the best of both worlds. For now I decided I will not accept any awards. Some of the awards out there are asking quite personal questions, which I do not want to share on this blog. I don’t want to accept one award and then not accept another. However, I always love a good party and so I will take awards as an opportunity to introduce some friends!

Let’s get started with The Sunshine Award. You can read all about it here and meet the lovely Dorothea who nominated me for it! Thank you Dorothea. I love reading your posts about Berlin and running in Germany as an expat!

You also have to checkout The Hangry Runner’s adventures, like running a 50 miler or the Toronto Marathon and working afterwards. She nominated me for The Mystery Blogger Award. Thank you so much! I look forward following your future adventures.

Other than that there isn’t much to say and everybody has been either awfully quiet or I haven’t yet found your updated posts yet. Hope all is well!

  1. I know what you mean… sometimes the political and personal and social and everything just comes together to make one want to withdraw for a while, but glad things are looking sunny again.
Hopefully it wasn’t my questions that were too personal! But I know what you mean about blog awards. It’s okay to reject the nomination. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Ha ha. Right now, I think it’s better here than there! Ireland though, seems like the most sane choice. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I agree about blogging awards. I can see that they are a nice way of introducing people to other blogs, but as someone with minimal IT competence I struggled with even cutting and pasting the ‘award’. Hence I ducked out of all that. And yes, everyone is very quiet!! I think there’s slot of recovery going on!!
