It did start promising. I actually nearly saw the sun … but then came the rain and the wind and the cold.
All in all a pleasant run … I told myself while thinking HTFU passing people out there swimming … and no people don’t wear wetsuits here in Ireland!
One hour later I was glad to head home.
… tomorrow that is if the pattern continues. One day sandstorm, one day beautiful sunrise then sandstorms again!
Fortunately I only had to do an easy quick run and I hope tomorrow’s conditions are better.
Though I could get used to running on soft sand instead of rocks.
No other runners out there either today, even less dogs!
Anything goes in this one. Love it because I have most of the time all the ingredients at hand and can freeze it well. Can be eaten with potatoes, bread, rice or solo.
One pot only a bit of onion choppin and over an hour and a whole lot of stirring later:
Top secret ingredient to make it bling in your mouth is balsamic vinegar.
Must have: onion and olive oil, tomato paste and chopped tomatoes.
Spices: cinnamon, oregano, chilli, garlic, pepper, coriander.
Other stuff that might end up in there: green and red lentils for protein, canelli, kidney and black beans, frozen veg like corn and if I am keen on more chopping, carrots for sweetness.
Those are the moments I will look back to whenever I lack motivation.
This is why I run. Don’t ever forget this future lazy self and drag yourself out!
I enjoyed the scenery for 1 slow running hour although my average heartrate was quite high … need to slow down more! Try again tomorrow.
This stuff is delicious, quick and good for fixing craving sweets!
My favourite is:
Apples & cinnamon
Frozen berries and chia seeds
Here is the base:
Oatflakes (buy organic and bulk)
Mix in the specials with the oats.
Add something to sweeten (maple syrup, sugar etc)
Almond milk to cover it all
Put in the microwave for a couple of minutes (i.e. 5 for frozen, 3 for the apple).
30 minutes run through the Sahara done. Well the 40km/h gusts made it feel like a sandstorm as well as the heat! (12° in winter fighting the wind feels like heat believe me).
Heartrate was all over the place, but I broke several records today:
- First time happy to wear glasses on the run, can’t imagine how bad hail like sand in the eyes must be
- Fastest speed and quickest cadence ever! Wind in the back and super smooth beach are awesome!
- Most amount of sand collected in my shoes
I am not kidding check out the flying sand:
Happy recovery week is over.
Leeks and garlic
~ 2 cups Veg Bouillon
Spices to taste (I like to use the same spices than I use in the main dish i.e. rosemary)
Once all is lovely add mixed:
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup red wine
